Heat only works while it is on you. That is fine at nine at night on the sofa. It is useless at eleven in the morning when you have things to do and a back that disagrees.
What it is
Two DriveOn® heat products sold together, because they solve opposite halves of the same problem. The Pro Thermal Pad is the deep session you sit still for. The Back Relief Wrap is the compression and heat retention you can walk around in. Bought separately they are $169.90; together they are $149.95, so you save $19.95.
How it works
The stationary session and the portable one
The Pro Thermal Pad is the heavy end. At 12 by 24 inches it covers the full lumbar area and most of the mid-back in one go, rather than heating one square of your spine at a time, and it has three heat settings with infrared-enhanced heating designed to reach past the skin surface into the muscle underneath. It also has a 60-minute auto-shutoff, which is the feature that matters most given that people fall asleep on heating pads. The microfiber cover unzips and goes in the machine.
The Back Relief Wrap does the thing a mains-powered pad structurally cannot: it goes with you. It combines adjustable compression across both the lumbar and thoracic muscles with a heat-retaining inner layer, and a breathable, moisture-wicking outer so it is wearable for longer stretches. It fits waists from 28 to 48 inches.
The logic of owning both is simply that chronic pain does not schedule itself around your sofa. The pad is what you use in the evening when you can lie down. The wrap is what gets you through the desk, the car and the supermarket in between.
How to use it
- Evening session with the pad — 15 to 30 minutes. Lie down or sit back with the pad across the sore area, starting on the lowest of the three settings. One to three sessions a day is a sensible ceiling.
- Daytime with the wrap — longer stretches. Fasten it over the lower and mid-back, adjust the compression so it is supportive rather than tight, and wear it through the parts of the day that are hardest.
- Alternate, do not stack. Use one or the other rather than both at once, and give your skin a break between sessions.

Who this is NOT for
Heat is not the right answer for everything. Do not apply it to a fresh injury, a swollen or inflamed area, or anything hot to the touch — that is a job for cold in the first couple of days. Do not use the pad if you have reduced skin sensation, diabetic neuropathy, or circulation problems, because the risk with any heating pad is a burn you cannot feel happening. Do not sleep on the pad, do not use it on broken skin, and do not use either item on someone who cannot tell you they are too hot. Back pain that radiates down a leg, or comes with numbness, weakness or loss of bladder or bowel control, needs a doctor today rather than a heating pad. Neither product treats or cures anything — they are comfort tools. And if you only ever have pain in one context, in the evening at home or only at work, buy the one item that fits that context; the duo only pays off if both halves of your day are affected.
Common Questions
Why own both a heating pad and a heat wrap?
Because heat only works while it is applied. The pad delivers the deep, full-coverage session when you can sit still, and the wrap keeps compression and retained warmth on the back when you cannot. One is mains-powered and stationary; the other travels.
How long should a heat session last?
15 to 30 minutes with the pad, one to three times a day. The 60-minute auto-shutoff covers you if you doze off, but it is a safety net rather than a target — longer sessions do not deliver more benefit.
How much does the duo save?
$19.95. The two items are $79.95 and $89.95 on their own pages, which is $169.90, against $149.95 for the duo. That is the entire discount and we are not going to dress it up.
Can I wash them?
The pad’s microfiber cover unzips and machine washes; the heating element itself never goes near a machine. Follow the care label on the wrap.
Can I use both at once?
Use one at a time. Layering heat sources on the same area makes it harder to judge how hot your skin actually is, which is exactly how people end up with a burn.
